Advocating for Accessible, Affordable, Equitable, & Quality Public Education for All

History / Endorsements

HISTORY
The Public Education Party (PEP) formed in 2010 to fill the leadership void amidst the current budget crisis and threats to quality public education. PEP represents a collective effort by graduate and professional students across UCLA's campus to advocate for accessible, affordable, equitable, quality public education for all students. The leaders of PEP share a vision for change and a strong voice to fight for the interests of students first and foremost. Together, PEP candidates have thirteen years of student government, organizing, and leadership experience at UCLA. This diverse experience ranges from leadership positions within the Student Bar Association, National Lawyers Guild, Critical Race Studies, USAC, and more. These candidates spearheaded the GSA resolution to endorse the March 4th Day of Action, continue to fight to protect students from excessive police force, advocate for research to implement real budgetary solutions, facilitate diversity initiatives to support students of color, and feel that graduate health insurance is vital to the pulse of UCLA. Most importantly, PEP is the voice of graduate and professional students looking for change and real solutions in a time of economic hardship and threats to the future of public higher education.
